Tom Newbury
A talented and highly respected designer and illustrator, Tom Newbury is a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn NY. As a freelance artist in New York City, he enjoyed early success creating designs and illustrations for such main line firms and publishers as Atheneum, Dell Books, British Walker, Dansk Design, Ralph Lauren, Dunn & Bradstreet, and Lever Brothers. In addition to creating Editorial Art for a number of magazines, Tom' s work was displayed in many exhibitions:
-Master Eagle Gallery
-Unicef Competition
-Society of Illustrators
-Pratt Cultural Exchange Exhibition
From 1989 to the present, Tom has been both the designer and a partner of Art & Commerce Company of Dallas, TX. As a producer of hand-made accessories and furniture for the high end furniture market, Art and Commerce has supplied luxury retailers as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Gumps, Scully & Scully, Gearys, Horchow, Saks, and Robb & Stuckey. Tom’s designs have been purchased for the US Department of State's Embassy's Interior Design Department, prestigious interior design firms and designers and for private labeling by many high end companies.
Tom is delighted to be working with Austin and excited by the opportunity to design pieces for its home accessories product line, “my hope is to create unique objects which can be appreciated for years to come.”
